ABOUT CORK

HOW IT'S MADE
Cork, often referred to as "vegan leather", but is so much more than that! From the bark of the Quercus Suber (cork oak) tree. It is extracted without any water, pollution, or harm to the tree. Because of this every piece of corks grain and texture is as unique and special as you.
When harvested, the tree will naturally regenerate its bark. During this regeneration process, the cork oak’s ability to absorb CO2 increases. A harvested cork tree absorbs 3-5 times more CO2 than a non-harvested tree. Because of this, the Portuguese Montado (cork oak forest) can be credited for offsetting 10 million tons of carbon every year.
Once extracted, the cork airdries for several months before being boiled, flattened and transformed into cork products.
Cork harvesting is a sustainable, cruelty-free and chemical-free process.

CARING FOR CORK
Apply warm water and mild soap to a clean cloth. Gently scrub in a circular motion. You can then allow the cork to airdry.
